Centralia College is planning campus and community-wide events for Focus the Nation during the week of January 28 as well as before and beyond. We are planning and scheduling presentations and activities aimed at an awareness of climate science and positive solutions for a sustainable community and planet. Our LYCEUM lecture series this school year relates to themes of sustainability with a group of noteworthy speakers. Events are free and open to the public on Wednesdays, at 1:00-1:50 pm, in Washington Hall Rm.103 or in nearby Corbet Theatre.

The Associated Students of Centralia College are endorsing the Focus the Nation efforts and will be kicking off the college’s efforts on Friday, December 7, 2007 from 9 am to 1 pm, with the National Polar Bear Plunge.  A film series is also planned as well as other activities by the ECO and Science Clubs. The Sustainability Committee is addressing many related themes including embarking on bold new recycling and composting program. In addition the college is in the beginning stages of a conducting a carbon inventory of the entire campus.
